2. Our story
In summer of 2011 Claudia, to earn some extra cash, gave out flyers to promote a club in Soho three nights per week, where Anita worked nightshifts as a barista at Caffe Nero.
One night, Claudia noticed Anita through the big Caffe Nero shop windows and was immediately smitten by what she saw. Her fellow flyer friends tried to convince her to go inside the cafe to speak to Anita, to which Claudia replied "I don't even know whether she speaks English, and I'm not going to talk to a complete stranger, that's weird!" (Apart from once when Claudia told Anita that someone had vomited outside her cafe lol)
But a short time after saying that, Claudia got her medusa piercing done and went to Caffe Nero to ask Anita for hot water and salt to clean her piercing which was in its healing process. Anita really liked the new piercing and mentioned that she herself had thought about getting one. After this Claudia would go and ask for hot water and salt on a regular basis and Anita was always happy to provide them for her.
- Anita later told Claudia that her colleagues noticed that Claudia would only come inside Caffe Nero when Anita was on shift. This made Claudia laugh because she didn’t even realise this herself, but thinking back, Claudia remembered that she indeed would go to the nearby Costa Coffee instead when Anita wasn’t at the counter. From that day on Anita called Claudia a stalker, which Claudia obviously denies until this day ;) –
After her shift ended at 11pm, Claudia would usually go back to the club she worked for, collect her hard earned cash and go home. But one night Claudia noticed Anita inside the club and so went to say “Hi, you are that girl from Caffe Nero aren’t you?” To which Anita replied “Yes, I’m Anita and this is my girlfriend Alalala" (for the purpose of this story and to maintain anonymity her name has been changed to Alalala). Claudia was very impressed by Anita’s courtesy and very much respected the fact that Anita was already in a relationship.
On that particular night Claudia decided to stay and party with her colleagues until the club closed. When leaving the club, Anita and Alalala, both very drunk, sat outside the exit on the pavement. Anita expressed that she was going to be sick and Claudia helped them both to find a place to be sick and looked after their belongings.
This incident very much helped break the ice between Anita and Claudia, and although Claudia crossed Anita off her list as she was already taken, this definitely became the start of a beautiful friendship.
From that night onwards Claudia would join Anita on her cigarette breaks, where they would chat about all sorts of things and really get along with each other.
Some time went by, it was autumn and cold by now, when Claudia decided to leave her flyer job and only had two more shifts to work.
On Claudia’s second last day, during one of their cigarette breaks, Anita asked her - out of the blue - whether she liked whipped cream. Claudia was quite surprised by this question and a million thoughts sped through her head such as “What does she mean by that? I don’t really like whipped cream.. Is this an innocent question, is she implying anything?!” and eventually, completely calm, cool and collected, answered with “Yes”. Anita went inside the cafe and emerged with a little espresso cup filled with hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. This was so super cute and Claudia could not help but tell herself that she mustn’t like Anita as she is in a relationship.
The next evening arrived and before work Claudia had a chat with a friend of hers who she bumped into by coincidence. Her friend talked about the universe and the energy that connects everyone with everything. Claudia was fascinated by this and jokingly asked whether the universe could also deliver the perfect woman for her. Her friend told Claudia to close her eyes and tell the universe exactly what she wanted. Claudia said her few words and for some reason had Anita in her mind.
Soon after that conversation Claudia started work and on Anita’s break told her that today was her last day handing out flyers.
Anita looked surprised and said “So I’m not going to see you again?”
Claudia “Ermmm no?”
Anita “Well then let’s exchange facebook”
And of course Claudia really liked this idea so took her phone out and said “So you’re name is Anita right? Because your girlfriend’s name starts with an A too doesn’t it?”
Anita “Well yes, Alalala, but she’s actually my ex-girlfriend.”
Fireworks and bells went off in Claudia’s head when she heard this; she could have jumped for joy but instead, staying calm, cool and collected, said “I’m really sorry to hear that...”
This of course was the beginning of all fairy tales.
The next day Anita and Claudia went to St. James Park together where they, surrounded by ducks and squirrels, had endless, deep and beautiful conversations of how they were brought up, where they were from, what they were passionate about... There was something magical in the air...
The day after that they went to Hyde Park, where Anita showed Claudia her favourite spot in the park by the Peter Pan statue. They went to row boats together where Claudia realised that Anita was scared of spiders and how “alternative” she was. They had so much fun and such a wonderful time..
Many a date after sharing life stories, endless conversations, lots of food and drink, places to see and discover, they finally kissed for the first time at the most perfect time possible in front of the place where the ice broke between them so many months prior.
They were meant to be together, which they proved again and again, through ups and downs, sunshine and rain. Anita and Claudia, two people who have been the bestest of friends, a home to each other, and the definition of unconditional love.
2. La nostra storia
Nell'estate del 2011 Claudia, per guadagnare qualche soldo extra, distribuiva volantini per promuovere un club in Soho tre notti a settimana, dove Anita lavorava turni di notte come barista a Caffe Nero.
Una notte, Claudia notò Anita attraverso le grandi vetrine di Caffe Nero e fu subito colpita da ciò che vedette. I suoi compagni di volantinaggio tentavano di convincerla ad entrare nel bar per parlare con Anita, a cui Claudia rispondeva: "Ma non so nemmeno se parla inglese, e non ho intenzione di parlare con una perfetta sconosciuta, è strano!" (A parte una volta quando Claudia dovette dire ad Anita che qualcuno aveva vomitato fuori dal suo bar lol).
Ma poco tempo dopo aver detto così, Claudia si fece il suo medusa piercing ed andò da Caffe Nero per chiedere ad Anita dell'acqua calda con sale per disinfettare il piercing che era in processo di guarigione. Ad Anita piacque molto il nuovo piercing ed infatti disse che aveva pensato di farlo anche lei. Dopo questo, Claudia andó a chiedere per l'acqua calda con sale su base regolare ed Anita era sempre felice di provvederglieli.
- Anita poi, piu avanti, disse a Claudia che i suoi colleghi avevano notato Claudia entrare a Caffe Nero solo quando Anita era di turno. Questo fece ridere Claudia perché lei stessa non se n'era resa conto, ma ripensandoci, si ricordò che in effetti sarebbe andata al vicino Costa Coffee quando Anita non era al bancone. Da quel giorno Anita chiamò Claudia una "stalker", ma Claudia ovviamente nega fino ad oggi ;) -
Dopo finire il turno alle 11 di sera, Claudia di solito sarebbe andata al club per cui lavorava, avrebbe preso la sua paga duramente guadagnata per poi andare a casa. Ma una notte Claudia notò Anita all'interno del club e quindi si avvicinò per dire: "Ciao, tu sei quella ragazza di Caffe Nero non è vero?" Al che Anita rispose: "Sì, sono Anita e questa è la mia ragazza Alalala" (per lo scopo di questa storia e per mantenere l'anonimato il suo nome è stato cambiato in Alalala). Claudia era rimasta molto impressionata dalla cortesia di Anita e rispettò molto il fatto che Anita fosse già in una relazione.
In quella particolare sera Claudia decise di rimanere a divertirsi con i suoi colleghi fino alla chiusura del locale. Nel lasciare il locale, Anita ed Alalala, entrambe molto ubriache, si sedettero sul marciapiede fuori l'uscita. Anita espresse il bisogno di stare per sentirsi male e Claudia aiutò entrambe a trovare un posto dove poter rimettere ed in oltre tenne d'occhio le loro cose.
Questo incidente aiutò molto alla rottura del ghiaccio tra Anita e Claudia, e anche se Claudia tolse Anita dalla sua "lista" siccome era già impegnata, questo sicuramente dette inizio ad una bella amicizia.
Da quella notte in poi Claudia si sarebbe giunta ad Anita alle sue pause sigaretta, dove avrebbero chiacchierato su ogni genere di cose, scoprendo che andavano davvero d'accordo l'una con l'altra.
Passò del tempo, era autunno e faceva freddo ormai, quando Claudia decise di lasciare il suo lavoro di volantinaggio e avrebbe dovuto lavorare solo altri due turni.
Il penultimo giorno di Claudia, durante una delle loro pause sigaretta, Anita le chiese - di punto in bianco - se le piacesse la panna montata. Claudia era piuttosto sorpresa da questa domanda ed un milione di pensieri le giravano per la testa del tipo "Che cosa intende? A me in realtà non piace molto la panna montata.. Si tratta di una domanda innocente, sta implicando nulla?!" ed infine, completamente calma, tranquilla e composta, rispose con "Sì". Anita andò all'interno della caffetteria e ne uscì con una tazzina da caffè ripiena di cioccolata calda contornata da panna montata e granelli di cioccolato. Questo gesto era stato così super dolce, e Claudia non poteva fare a meno di dire a se stessa che Anita non doveva piacerle perchè era in una relazione.
La sera dopo arrivò e prima di lavorare Claudia ebbe una chiacchierata con una sua amica, che aveva incontrato per caso. La sua amica stava parlando dell'universo e dell'energia che collega tutti con tutto. Claudia era affascinata dal discorso e scherzosamente chiese se l'universo avrebbe potuto anche mandare la donna perfetta per lei. La sua amica le disse di chiudere gli occhi e dire all'universo esattamente quello che voleva. Claudia disse poche parole e per qualche ragione aveva Anita nella sua mente.
Subito dopo quella conversazione Claudia iniziò a lavorare e nella pausa di Anita le disse che oggi sarebbe stato il suo ultimo giorno a distribuire volantini.
Anita la guardò sorpresa e disse: "Quindi, non ti vedrò più?"
Claudia: "Ehmmm no?"
Anita: "Ok, allora scambiamoci facebook"
E, naturalmente, a Claudia era piaciuta molto questa idea così prese il telefono e disse: "Quindi, tu ti chiami Anita, giusto? Perché il nome della tua ragazza inizia anche con la A, non è vero? "
Anita: "Ebbene sì, Alalala, ma a dire il vero, è la mia ex ragazza."
Fuochi d'artificio e campane partirono nella testa di Claudia quando sentì la notizia; avrebbe potuto far salti di gioia, ma invece, restando calma, tranquilla e composta, disse: "Mi dispiace davvero..."
Questo, naturalmente, è stato l'inizio di tutte le fiabe.
Il giorno successivo Anita e Claudia andarono a St. James Park dove insieme, circondate da anatre e scoiattoli, ebbero profonde, bellissime ed interminabili conversazioni su come fossero state cresciute, da dove venissero, su cosa le appassionava... C'era qualcosa di magico nell'aria...
Il giorno seguente andarono ad Hyde Park, dove Anita mostrò a Claudia il suo punto preferito nel parco, dove si trova la statua di Peter Pan. Andarono anche sulle barche a remi dove Claudia si rese conto di quanto Anita avesse paura dei ragni e di quanto "alternativa" lei fosse. Si divertirono un sacco e passarono momenti meravigliosi..
Dopo molti altri appuntamenti, condividendo storie di vita, conversazioni interminabili, un sacco di mangiate e bevute, luoghi da vedere e scoprire, finalmente si baciarono per la prima volta nel momento più perfetto possibile di fronte al luogo in cui il ghiaccio si ruppe tra loro tanti mesi prima.
Erano destinate a stare insieme, dimostrandolo più e più volte, tra alti e bassi, sole e pioggia. Anita e Claudia, due persone che sono state le migliorissime delle amiche, una casa per l'un l'altra, e la definizione di amore incondizionato.
